    Athletically? Probably not no. *coughKHALIcough*
Not to take away from anyone who does have amazing athletic skill and wins it, you win it because someone decided its your time to win it or they want you to win it.

In the entertainment/media industry? Yes. A LOT of places and shows will introduce some wrestlers as former champions or x-times champion.

Depends which way you look at it but " winning " a title in the WWE is a lot like getting a big promotion at your job it shows that you have worked hard at what you do and if you are handed the title the company is showing huge faith in you as you will be the figure head of the WWE
So if I was a wrester and " won " a world title I be damn proud

No. WWE title is not earned in the same way.

Well, when a wrestler goes to the ring, he knows the outcome. The legit fighter does not.

Not taking anything away from a wrestling champion, you have to be at the top of your game (in most cases) to get to that spot, much like in every other sport.

Really a bit of ass kissing in pro wrestling could win you a title.

A UFC or Boxing title is more of an individual achievement, but winning the WWE title is more like winning the Oscar for Best Actor, you've been outstanding as an individual, but you've still got to be in a good movie (feud/storyline) to do it and bring out your best.

Unless as mentioned earlier, Vince thinks you can bring heat *cough* Kali *cough* :D

    ^ This is one thing

Another is actually being the best in the business at some aspect like Chris Benoit.

Or there is being physically huge like Khali who probably did none of the above, but was deemed Championship worthy due to his size.

Others like HBK, Jericho, Guerrero, Edge etc get there because they are too good not to be champions

Winning a seat in the Dail. :P

Probably getting promoted as a Director in a large multinational company. Or winning a contract as the spokesperson for big brand - Eva Longoria L'Oréal Divas Champion anyone?

Winning an individual world title in any sport is a huge achievement.

Becoming WWE champion is a huge achievement also but as said the fact the result is pre determined takes away when compared to individual world championship wins in a big time sport.

In fairness a few world titles are won in fighting sports where the outcome looked very dodgy and like the match up had a pre determined outcome!

DM-ICE (and others) are right; winning a belt in a scripted TV show is quite dissimilar to winning a title in a legitimate sporting contest. But it's still a marvelous achievement which generally requires a lot of skill, luck, timing, hard work etc. Like it's generally difficult but in a different manner, because it's a different type of competition. I'd agree with Batm!ke that it's like winning an OSCAR, with a judging panel of one or two people.

The rules don't apply to all - eg Khali as people have mentioned - but he does look very impressive - like nobody else on the roster, and would bring in an Indian audience; so there's always some laudable quality as to why some are chosen.

to be fair Khali was given the strap to capitilize on the Indian market................ not sure why though when tatanka would have been better back in the day:rolleyes:

You look at the reactions of Benoit or Eddie, or when Punk cried when he won the ECW title....yeah, there's many people who can politic their way into title wins, but when you see the reactions of some guys to winning, you realise the title can still mean a damn lot to people. As fans, they might not mean much, but if you slog your way through the industry from the bottom to the top, that title is the sign you've become one of the biggest guys in the wrestling world.
