Hi, 2 of us are due to head off on Sunday for a week of boarding. My friend has never boarded before so this is his first time. He has broken his wrist 2 within the last 10 years so i don't think its currently the strongest.

Im looking to try and sort out some wrist protection, Does anyone know a shop in Dublin that would sell something like this?

The gloves with built in protection are the best option. Snow & Rock in Dundrum should have them too and maybe Great Outdoors.
You can get separate wrist protection for under gloves, but it’s a bit of a pain trying to pull gloves on over these and might need to get bigger gloves to fit.
Another good idea is impact shorts because if your friend is just learning he will be falling on his arse a lot. When you fall backwards there is a temptation to put your hands down to cushion the fall. With impact shorts you are more likely to just take the impact without putting your hands down.

if you can get the gloves and protectors in one grand but getting them separately and using them under your gloves is feck all hassle.

just DON'T go away with wrist protection whatever you do. you'd be mad not to.

Check Tog24 they do wrist protectors last i saw. also Snow and Rock and possibly 53 Degrees North.

impact shorts great idea as well if you're learning. they'll prevent any serious bruising and aches/pains which inevitably kick in towards the end of your hollier when you're learning and the spills that go with it.

Personally, I think you should learn how to fall properly.

Wrist protectors will only help with the light spills, learning how to fall properly removes the need for them altogether!

I completely agree with the use of helmets, impact shorts etc, I just feel wrist protectors will give you a false sense of security. Im sure most Snowboard instructors would agree...

i bought wrist protectors in snow and rock last week for 20 euro.
they fit under my gloves fine.

I got a pair of those Tog 24 gloves with wrist protectors built in. Great gloves nice and warm, but i took the wrist protectors out, its possible, if you fall hard enough that the protectors can force a break further up your arm.

I agree with this too - its a noble concept but we all know what we were like when we were learning!

maybe it's the wrong thing to do but i wouldn't feel right without them now.
