New wireless card causing problems

    Hoping someone can help me with this. I installed a new Intel wireless card (Intel WiFi Link 6200 802.11n Half Mini Card Advanced-N Wireless 802.11ABGN) in my laptop (Dell Inspiron 1545 - Windows 7) this morning. I downloaded the drivers which the Intel website told me I needed and restarted. Since then I have been getting a lot of Google Chrome errors
    Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): Unknown error!

    The laptop is also occasionally freezing so that I have to power it off using the power button.

    I tried Intel's diagnostic tool and it tells me the wireless card is working fine but when I use the PC Checkup Tool Dell had preinstalled on my laptop almost everything passed but it throws up the following error under the heading Internet Communication Test:
    Internet Communication Test
    Test Started 09/02/2012 17:33:51

    Warning Message:The test could not connect to Google. 09/02/2012 17:33:57

    Warning Message:The test could not connect to your default home page Google. 09/02/2012 17:33:57

    Warning Message:The test could not connect to microsoft.com. 09/02/2012 17:34:08

    Warning Message: The test could not connect to google.com. 09/02/2012 17:34:19

    Test Finished: No Connection 09/02/2012 17:34:19

    I don't really know what this test is supposed to do but I can access all of those sites by typing in their address, so it seems something isn't right.

    I've tried winsockfix, reseating the card, deleting all cache etc. and restarting the router.

    Any ideas?

    Just a brief update. I've reinstalled the old wireless card and the chrome errors have gone, but it is still failing the Internet Communication Test.

    Have you tried uninstalling all the drivers (Old and new), rebooting with the new card in, and installing the new drivers?

    I'll try that in the morning. Ta.

    But I'm wondering whether there's not a bigger problem at work here if the Internet Communication Test is failing for both.
