RWT Best time of year to start

    hi,

    Planning a RTW trip which will have the basic route of SEA (4 months), AUS (1 month), NZ (1 month), SA (5 months)

    What is the best time of year to commence trip with regards to weather. I'd like to avoid the height of summer and baking hot sun where possible, on the other hand, we don't want to be frozen, have to carry around heavy clothes or arrive in the middle of rainy seasons

    I'm currently doing something similar but went SA(3) -> NZ(2 1/2) -> Oz (2 1/2) -> China / SEA (4) and I left at the end of April.

    For most of it we've been catching Spring / Autumn. So we've avoided any really hot weather so far. We have hit a few places near the edges of rainy season but even then it was generally only a couple of showers and we missed the worst of it.

    Only Bolivia, parts of NZ and China were really cold. Although because of the time we hit SA we were told to avoid Patagonia because of the weather and the strong chance of road closures.
