    What type of volvo?

Assuming its a standard enough model you should be looking at no more then €80-€90 supply and fit in a decent indy garage.

How much do you think such a business should charge?

Do both garages have all the same equipment, specialist tooling, training, facilities etc?

Only if the answer is yes is the price comparable.

The garage i use has been able to fix any problem i've had with my car(which has been a lot) so I would say yes.

Probably not but €95 an hour for a mechanic to change brake parts is far from cheap I reckon.

Costs are ludicrously high here having said that.

I agree, I don't even see why the hourly labour rate would be mentioned when it comes to just fitting brake pads.

But in general, comparing the labour rate of a large brand dealer, large independants and smaller garage operations isn't like for like.

    Agreed.

I guess I mentioned it in the context of differing jobs required different levels of expertise.

Would changing brake pads be considered a simple enough task by most mechanics?
The mechanic i use is charging €30 to change my front pads, cost of parts is €60...pads+wear sensor.Main dealer wanted €280:eek:

Pads are a no-brainer to a mechanic. I've done pads & discs on the driveway with the most basic tools in under an hour.
