Do cabin crew with Aer Lingus enjoy their jobs anymore? Has the job changed beyond redemption due to disputes and change of conditions?
What are the main differences now compared to when they started off. Is it a career that you would now recommend?

Anyone i know working for EI now says its nothing compared to what it used to be, you would have to go far east to scrape some of the remaining glamour and excitement.

I think the far east airlines "glamour jobs" are only an illusion :) I know the job isn't glamorous, just wondering about Aer Lingus cabin crew pay, condition, rosters, layovers, time off ect...

I cant help with pay, conditions, rosters etc but if you want to find out there are EI crew on some "other" websites who im sure would be more useful then the non-crew here!
If you were to ask me i would recommed you go for the job if you get offered a place and then make your own judgement!! Everything you read will be someones opinion in some way!

I have been working for a well known middle easten airline since June and to tell the truth it is not what you would call glamourous. In saying that however, our pay is quite good, we are provided with free accommodation and our uniform isn't as bad as other airlines. Even though you work hard, it is worth it if you have a love of travel as the job brings you to places most people only dream of visiting. I'm trying not to be biased but I will also tell you that for me personally, it is not my dream job. Sure I love the travelling part, however you have to work very irregular and long hours at times to get this reward. It can be extremely tiring. Also, because the standards set by my airline is so high, customers come onboard expecting the world and when they don't receive what they're expecting, they get p****d off and treat us like dirt and I feel I'm far above this kind of behaviour from people who are probably less educated than myself. I've nearly been here for a year at this stage so once I have finished my year, I will return to Ireland to continue with my studies or else I'll head for Australia. Another major factor for me about the job was the relocation to the middle east, namely Dubai. Some people absolutely love it here. I however, find it very lonely and most of the people here are very shallow. Some of my colleagues have been with the company for years and they absolutely love it so it all depends on the person really. If you're prepared to take the good with the bad, then maybe you should consider it even for just a year. I'm not sure how similar Aer Lingus is to what I described above but it might be nice to join them if you want to be based in Ireland.

Sounds similar to what I have been told by several former EK/QR/GF crew who returned to work for EI/RE. The Middle East isn't for everyone and it can be lonely. Sometimes nicer to be at home in 'a less glamorous' career.

I think there is a lot to be said for working at home, coming home to your own bed at night, and not having a curfew! I'm not sure if EI have any layovers for seasonal staff, unless you get on long haul which i'm sure seasonal workers don't?
