Is it possible to install HD onto a laptop?

Hi all, just bought a Canon 600d eos camera and I have been doing some filming this morning. Went to upload it to my laptop, Toshiba Satellite running Vista, bought in 2007, and when I uploaded them they ran slowly and looked really grainy with the pic not syncing up with the audio. I think this is because the camera is fully hd, but to the best of my knowledge the laptop is not. So what can I do? Is there an update I could get?

    Thanks

It's more likely related to the processor/graphics card not being powerful enough to process and play the HD video. There is no way to upgrade these.

It may be a codec issue though, you could try downloading vlc media player and see if the playback improves. If it doesn't, it's most likely the laptop that just can't hack it.

you need to give us details of the resolution you recorded in, if your running off the cam via usb or on hard drive, processor of lappy and ram at a minimum, most likely your laptop is under powered and if so MAYBE ram increase canhelp but if the processor is old, might be hopeless

Thank you to everybody for the replies. It would be a real nuisance to have to change laptops as funds are tight after the camera purchase, but I uploaded the same video onto the oh's mac and it ran fine.

Boston B I will get you the specs tonight when I am at home. Again thanks to everybody for the repiles

Sorry about the late reply on this.

The laptop model is a Toshiba Sattelite A210 11P

What are you using to play the videos out of interest? I'd say that laptop should just be able to play full HD material, but the application you use will have an effect on performance.

Using VLC Player now instead of quicktime but it still looks pretty bad

Would using\purchasing CoreAVC video decoders be of any use in this situation?

I'm thinking your laptop should be able to play it, but it could be that you have some applications running in the background that's slowing down the machine, possibly even a virus. That's just speculation though. Just thinking out loud in the way of possibilities.
You could go about uninstalling programs you don't need and performing a full system scan with your anti virus, or a scan with malware bytes, which is a great bit of software. Check the programs that run on startup by clicking start > run, then typing msconfig and clicking in the "startup" tab. If your not sure which processes you should leave alone, google them to see what they are.
