corolla verso for estate

    i currently have a 2005 corolla verso, and thinking of changing for an estate, but not sure what to go for.
    originaly bought it when we had first child and now have 2, but have managed to reduce the cargo that comes with the kids when travelling anywhere. verso if big and chunky and a little thirsty as well as the higher tax on the old bands for a 1.6

    any suggestions of what to look for and stay away from ? hoping to pick up somehting on the new lower tax rates
