Hi lads, just looking for a bit of general knowledge on the above topic for a project, from my own research erucic acid is important in rapeseed production and other seed oil crops.
Would ye have any other general knowledge on this or how it is relevant to agriculture in a practical sense?

ah sure just googled it there and it is one of main the ingregients in lorenzo's oil, not very agricultural though. Is it the toxin in the flowers of rape and kale?

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

Yes blue5000 it is a toxin found in rapeseed oil and some other members of the Cruciferae family like kale as you mentioned. It decreases the rate of ATP synthesis by mitochondria in the heart tissues...
Have you heard of a strain of rapeseed called "Rapeseed 00"- It is supposed to be low in erucic acid?
Do any of ye feed rapeseed meal to cattle?

Double low varieties came in in the 90's and there was also a move to High Eruric Acid rape on setaside as a non food industrial crop about 10 years ago.
