    I was looking at my mates mondie 1.8 petrol 2003. The problem is poor acceleration. I checked the dash fault codes, and found and error 0206. Which is confusing, because the fault is;
    P0206 Injector Circuit Malfunction - Cylinder 6.
    0n a four pot lump?

    Its had new plugs, leads and coil recently. The egr is clean the cat's not blocked.

    That self diagnostic does not do a on-board diagnostic check. It only does self diagnostics on the instrument cluster. You will need to have the car scanned by a proper diagnostic scanner.
    NVM (EEPROM) level (Er----) - this (e.g. Er0206) is often mistakenly assumed to be an error code!

    Test the resistance of each injector they should be about 12 ohms each. If they are ok do a fuel pressure test. Is it poor acceleration always or just sometimes.

    I'm not sure if its intermittent or all the time. I just had a quick test ride for five minutes. Although he said it was really bad on saturday.
    The revs start to splutter at 4000rpm and and really struggle at 5000rpm.
    It feels like the coil breaking down to me, but the owner has changed it with a used one from a breaker, which i think was a bad move.
    I advised him to bring it to DOWNEYS in portlaoise and put it on a proper diag machine. I have'nt heard back since.

    Fuel related I'd say by the sounds of things. Get a fuel pressure test done. I've changed the fuel pump in these a few times.

    You could be right because the fuel gauge tells fibs when it gets to the last quarter. And the gauge sender and pump prolly run on the same circuit.

    Did you find you were low on power as the tank was on its last quarter?

    Where the plugs gapped correctly? What brand was used do you know?

    I asked him the same question and he said it happens regardless of of fuel capacity. Although i think it could be a dodgy pump.
    One of the problems is that most of the time his GF tips around in the car and because it does'nt actually break down, they're inclined to put it on the long finger. I probably wont see him for another month. Its been a month since I changed the plugs and leads and he only came back on monday.

    ND;
    The plugs were beru iridium, eleven quid a pop. And were gapped to the specs in a haynes manual. The plugs that came out of it looked pretty good, they were only changed as an elimination process.

    Well I got it sorted. I bought a used fuel from a local breaker in the heath. Fifty quid, Dropped the tank swapped the pump and hey presto it would'nt even run, no pressure. So, bit the bullet and bought a new pump from downeys and its sorted. So PLUG was bang on the money. Thanks for the input lads.
