I may have missed it in the sticky for free software, but i'm looking for free and easy to use photoshop software. I'm hoping to fix some old "cracked" photos I can scan onto the computer and cut and paste from ther photos - that kind og malarkey.

If no decent free software is available what's the best one to buy?

Thanks in advance and apologies if i've missed an existing thread(s) on the subject.

Gimp (http://www.gimp.org/) is free. From the site:

GIMP is the GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed piece of software for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring. It works on many operating systems, in many languages.

Thanks guys. Had a look at it from the sticky above, but being lazy, didn't study it closely enough. Thought it was just for editing existing photos - sepia tones, colour. I'll give it an in depth look again.

Mods please close if i've gone over old ground again.

    Thanks.

Gimp is good .... when you learn to use it

Paint.net is good too .... and easier to learn, install, use, etc.

If your used to Photoshop give Gimpshop a try, its the Gimp but with a Photoshop look & feel about it.
Paint.Net is good also, but not as feature rich (its easier for direct editing images/than manipulation etc.)
