I'm around 5 miles from Forth Mtn. and have line of sight on a clear day. I also should have no hassle getting signal from Wales.

If you can receive from Mt. Leinster & can wait until October, you'd be better off using it rather than Forth.

The channel change that takes place at Mt. L. after analogue is switched off will make for easier combining with Preseli (Wales) & will increase your chances of receiving the Freeview muxes on UHF channels 49 & 50 (HD on 50), if using a mast mounted diplexer.

If anybody requires information on Freeview and Saorview, Please read above link Saortv. :)

Some Good TV3 programmes recorded in Recorded Library.

Can you estimate how much (hrs) worth of programmes you get on your 8gb stick?

Any issues with the HD programming? I assume it just records and plays back in the same quality as its transmitted in? I know of course that it would use up a fair bit more space on the stick.

I think it only just over 4 hours for SD and possibly over 2 hours for HD (RTE 2 HD).
The day I bought the USB they where sold out of 16GB USB.

You can also set the Saorview STB for live pause.

I have a Freesat Humax Foxsat HDR a couple of years, so that does for Freesat channels.

I would have got a bigger USB for recording if I didnt have the Humax.

Be careful buying a USB, I have heard of one person having trouble with the wrong type USB.

I would have thought that a USB stick would have been easier for a STB to power and write to than a HDD, even a 2.5" one, as the HDD has a platter to spin etc and the USB has no moving parts.

Reading some reviews of STBs they said that they work better with HDDs. I assume this is powered ones which need to be plugged in all the time?

Anyone know, looking at the specs, if this TV would work with Saorview?

I see no reference to MPEG anything in the spec (downloaded the manual too), only DVB-T & MHEG5.
