Signed off - when do you get cheque?

I signed on in the new year but thankfully got a new job and signed off a few weeks later on. The lady in the social welfare advised a cheque for the time I was off would be sent to the house shortly. After over 2 weeks I still have not had anything. Is there a backlog or how long does it take for a cheque to be sent out?

If payment has been authorised already, then usually the cheque will be there in a couple of weeks. If you're waiting much longer, chase it up.
