Hi i was hoping for a bit of advise before I bought a new Oxeygen sensor.

    I am getting a fault code of P 0141 P 01/01

according to the little book that came with the reader , it is a heater circuit fault.

Would buying a new sensor be the correct action at this point?

its really your only option once you are certain its failed. ( have you cleared the code and driven since getting it?). You could ignore the warning but then you won't know if a new engine problem arises.
Just a bit of advise. I got same prob and my mechanic got the probe for me here in Ireland - cost €300. 2nd probe went a few weeks ago and I bought the probe from http://www.spark-plugs.co.uk/ for €75 euro. I used a cheap box spanner instead of the lamda socket as I hadn't got one. Job took 5 minutes.

I was also reading it may be spark plugs. One misfiring and causing a bad O2 reading. They have not been changed in over 4 years and there is a misfire when driving at 3k revs.

I have found a lambada sensor for 30 pound on ebay with a years warranty.

its the wife's car and get used daily to drive less than 1/2 mile. I think she is killing it.

Misfires or other engine issues won't cause faults in the lambda heating system, only the lambda range/performance/switching.

For the heating element you need to test its resistance to ensure its an issue in the lambda and not a problem with the power for the element. The White wire(s) are the supply for the heater element.

If you have a decent multimeter you can test the element for resistance, any more then 30ohms or infinity and its knackered.

If she is only driving half a mile then 1, why is she bothering to use a car? and 2, the heating element never gets to switch off(car never gets up to operating temperature) so would explain why it would burn out.
