    Hi,

I just had my exhaust replaced and everything connected to it replaced because it failed the NCT due to high emissions.

When driving it today I noticed a slight humming noise when I accelerate coming from the rear of the car, is this okay?

    Thanks.

What part did you have replaced? New exhaust boxes will often sound a bit hollow for the first few miles.

Does the humming noise change/increase with speed or revs?

Yes it only comes with increased revs.

I had the exhaust box, two pipes towards the rear the catalytic converter and a pipe before the catalytic converter. Not sure if that makes sense but that's how I remember the mechanic explaining it to me.

Possibly some bit of it touching the chassis or bodywork of the car?

Is it something that I should be worried about?

I don't mind the actual sound, it's just that if there could possibly be something wrong I would want to bring it back to the garage.

Best to bring it back anyway to put your mind at rest. Without hearing the exact noise none of us can tell you if its an issue or not unfortunately.
