as many of you here I am currently trying to rebuild a series 1 fulvia the car is an original irish car witch has been off the road for as I know about 30 odd years of it's 42 years here. I picked the car up about 2008 in a very poor state and have been slowly admittedly pieceing it back togeather, but for anybody who may be interested I was given some pic's on Thursday night of the car from a previous owner from when he bought it as a project back in 1993 !! Needless to say I was pretty delighted with them as am very keen on tracking it's history. Sorry for the poor quality but here they are.

Every time I see a Fulvia coupé S1 i'm struck again by the elegance and lightness of the design.

yeah didn't have to do much with it as it was "rebuilt" by the previous owner so we'll see how it runs.

You don't know if that car was registered to an owner in county limerick about 30 years ago do you ? My neighbour used to own one in that colour about 30 years ago.

    Lovely cars.

No Dublin car all its life according to the log book and one of only two surviving series 1 Irish cars, although I've heard of one in a poor state somewhere in new Ross aswel so maybe there is a couple more out there?

Should never have taken it on really but I bought it at the end of the boom and had already spent way too much to turn back by the time I realised how big a job I'd taken on.
Also can't really take that much credit because it wouldn't be anywhere as good a job if it wasn't for the guys at classiccarcentre.ie who finished and admittedly refinished the bits that were beyond me.

After the wedge that i've given up on bodywork i'll be avoiding doing any rallying. A pic taken in on the way past today.

I didn't have that much time over the festive season and although I was given advice not to bolt on the jewelry I couldn't resist indulging myself a little after I had done some more mundane tasks!

Yes it is but really the only difference is the large inner lights.

So with the fine weather today and some time on my hands I decided to wheel her back out for a photo-shoot, made me want to revive this old thread.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,348 ✭✭✭w124man

I really must drop around and have a look at that beauty. I went to see yer man Hynes in Boolavogue about body and paintwork for one of my projects but he never bothered to get back to me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,358 ✭✭✭kev1.3s

yeah he's a funny like that and doesn't seem to be short of work too but if I were you I'd give him a little nudge or did you get sorted?

No didn't get sorted but simply too busy to go looking for someone else to do the work. Since then though I've decided to get a more 'cost effective' job done and sell - part of my clearance programme!

Beautiful car, just one thing is it the camera playing tricks cause the stripe on the bonnet seems to be not straight it looks like it has a slight bend in it although as I said it could be the angle or the camera lens playing tricks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,358 ✭✭✭kev1.3s

Thanks for all the comments, I noticed the slight bend in the pics but I don't think its there in real life but I could be wrong about that. If it is there now there is feck all I can do about it now anyway, hopefully reconcile her with her engine and box in the next month or so.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,454 ✭✭✭tc20

she's looking fantastic kev1.3s - credit to you.
i noticed in the first pics there was a ridge on the bonnet - is/was that an original fitment, or an add-on of sorts?
also, regarding the colour scheme, which looks fantastic, is there any relevance to the colours/stripes, were they team racing colours of the day?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,358 ✭✭✭kev1.3s

That's original, it has to get a chrome plastic grill there and it feeds air into the heater box, as regards the stripes they are lancias racing stripes early hf fulvias had them and also the last of the hf deltas.
