I've an old house-built in 1800s-. i installed a gas fire on the first floor living room as i couldn't be arsed with dragging coal/timber upstairs for an open fire. however it's totally useless-heat is negligible.I've decided that a stove is the way to go in terms of heat and efficiency, I'll just have to get over my laziness! just wondering is it an option to put a stove into a fireplace? I'm in the tipp/limerick area and looking for suitable shops for both advice and stove purchase.is there a lot of work involved given that the chimney is intact?

    thanks in advance.

Hi:) It really depends on the fireplace and chimney condition as to how big a job it will be. Is the stove to be inset into the opening? What is the width and height?
Or is it going to be infront of the fireplace? Inset stove or freestanding?

As your house is old the chimney should be lined. Much safer in an old house and a proper job.

    Whats your budget?

    Stove Fan:)
