I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that this website is the greatest hip hop resource on the internet and possibly anywhere.

It's essentially a database of all the best songs in hip-hop from the Sugarhill Gang in '79 up to Eminem in '99. There are 21 volumes of mixes. Each volume averages out at around 40-45 tracks I reckon. Some volumes like the '95 one goes up to 85 tracks and a whopping 3 hours worth of songs.

And naturally all the songs are mixed in together. It's surreal to hear "'93 Til" mixed in to "Insane in the Brain".

It's mind-boggling the amount of music on there. An example of some of the songs on the 1993 volume are:
    • Souls of Mischief – 93 Til Infinity
    • Tupac – Keep Your Head Up
    • Snoop Doggy Dogg – Gin and Juice
    • Wu-Tang Clan – Method Man
    • Redman – All Night Long
    • KRS One – Hip-Hop vs Rap

And there are another 41 songs on that mix alone.

Factor in the other 20 volumes and I reckon there are easily well over 1,000 songs there. It takes a few minutes to load up the whole mix and you can skip through it at will.

I can't wait to sit down and just listen away to the different volumes.

It is a paradise for any fan of rap and especially those who aren't fans of current hip-hop.

The only thing that I'm annoyed about is that they managed to put in 4 songs from "2001" but they left out "Still Dre", which is imo the best song on that album. Oh and I'm also annoyed that B.O.B. arrived 9 months too late to get onto the '99 mix. But that is me being incredibly pedantic.

Don't think twice about clicking on the link above, just do it.

    Nice.

But seriously "I'm like a gremlin feed me hip-hop after 12 and I start tremblin" this is going to keep me up even longer.

Haha I've banned myself from it until a more respectable time tomorrow afternoon.

Brilliant. That's 31 different mixes now and not far off 2,000 songs.

Thank god I'm not studying for exams this year or I'd fail them all I think. I'm gonna have to go through them all from start to finish. Will take me weeks though I reckon.

Oh and I love the way "Be" by Common is the intro song on the '05 mix. Classic intro song.

    Working fine in Firefox.

Links work fine in Safari and Chrome too.

I withdraw my statement saying 2000-9 was worth a listen - 2009 is shambolic anyway.
