I'm wondering whats the (legal) story with displaying insurance during a temporary transfer to another car? That car wont be insured in its own right but when arranging it today the broker told me that wasnt as issue, i forgot to ask about displaying insurance though.

I imagine i should just have my insurance cert with me? But im obviously not going to put my disk in the window? Sorry if its maybe a stupid question i just want to make sure.

Did the same last week. The Insurance Agent - One Direct- would not send out a new cert, as it was a temporary transfer. Have nothing to show on window. They would'nt budge. The policy is up in a week and I've jumped to another insurer for the next one:D.

What did you do in the end during the transfer?

They won't send a disc unless its for a week or more from my experience. I usually carry my original cert and a faxed copy of the temporary transfer details. Any garda who would have an issue with that would be a dick head IMO

No insurer will issue a disc for a temp sub ever.Doesnt matter how long the sub is for.

Some may issue you with a cover letter if requested stating "this car is insured from X until Y" but thats about the best you can hope for.

But surely there are some guards like that, and you might get fined afair €60 for non-display of insurance disc.
