    Sorry if this is not the place or it seems to be a tragic and somewhat morose topic to bring up, but would anyone happen to know the name of the Garda at the start of this video of the "Badfellas" crime documentary from RTE some time back.

    Unfortunately, there seems to be a shocking number of gardai who have died in similar circumstances attempting to prevent armed robbers from escaping. From reading articles, I suspect it might be Gda. Dick Fallon who was fatally wounded on April 3rd 1970.

    Thanks for that link with the background. An absolutely pointless murder. There seems to be a whole can of worms in the background of that incident.

    Absolutely a can of worms relating to that incident - suggestions of Government involvements with the ' Saor Eire ' group behind it as well as suggestions of fabricated fingerprint evidence..... a murky story alright.
