How do ye see these going? Is Rubio going to provide a real test for the paper champ?

Every time I pick Rubio , he loses

Every time I pick Rubio to lose , he wins .

He's a fighter I have learnt to stay away from

He has me jinxed .......... but I like him.
Done it the hard way........ with no big promotion and no major backing.
He didnt get any head start in the boxing game.

Apparently donaire did not look in good shape at the weigh in, but my money is still on donaire.

Donaire is moving up a weight i think ??

He didn't look great , well he didnt appear toned at all .
But he's probably taking Vazquez as a gimme ,.......

Nobody expects this fight to be very competitive .

I got a small bet on Vazquez jnr at 12/1

(Donaire weighed in a little light)

Who do you guys think will win from the 2 main fights.

I'm not sure, but I think Chavez's record is mostly tomato cans, it's nice to see him get a challenge. Nonito Donaire is being made out as the clear favourite for his fight, I dunno about that.

Very comfortable win for Chavez Jr. Rubio just didn't have the power to make up for the size disadvantage at all. Donaire's fight was very good I though. Vazquez showed very well and was technically impressive throughout. Donaire broke his hand in the 4th as well apparently.

seen some of the rounds of chavez/rubio

    chavez looked quite good

although he was much bigger, 10lbs heavier

the main criticism of chavez is his opposition, not that he can't fight

but taking into account his lack of amateur experience it is understandable for the slow start......a few more fights against opposition maybe like andy lee, even kelly pavlik might be ready to take and then he could fight martinez.....

ya never know he might turn out to be fairly good....still not convinced though

donaire was sublime considering his first fight at 122....if he fought gamboa at 126 in a year or 2 that would be a great fight

donaire is one of the best in terms of p4p....great skill, power, accuracy and feet

This is a good post. He could turn out to be a legend if you ask me. His opposition has been weak but from what I have seen he is very skillfull. His defence against Rubio was spot on, he fought an excellent fight. He's certianly improving anyway.

Talk of Andy Lee in June. I've tipped Andy for a world title numerous times here but I would actually rather see Andy fight Sturm in Germany or even Martinez than Chavez Jr.

yeah hopefully lee gets a title fight but i dont like him going to germany....he'd have to ko sturm to win.....macklin clearly beat sturm already and i though murray did enough too......it's not worth going there and being robbed

lee is awkward for anobe at MW due to his size and reach and southpaw stance.....i think ppl avoid him because of this.....chavez jnr looks a big MW now.....he struggled to make weight.....he could possibly move to 168 soon......chavez jnr v froch could be a possibility....would be interesting

That's putting it lightly. He's had trouble making it for a while now, and there's a strong suggestion that he may have used diuretics to make the weight for this fight. He left the venue without taking a post - fight drug test, which is supposed to be required by the WBC. Rubio is not best pleased about it, apparently, but Chavez will probably get away with it given his connections. I will say though He tested positive a few years back for a diuretic used to make weight for a fight. He weighed 181 pounds in the ring the other night, re-hydrating 21 and a half pounds in 24 hours.. So, for all intents and puposes, he was a Cruiserweight, in a middleweight fight. Huge advantage and he uses it, fighting inside and leaning on his opponents. He's a decent inside fighter, but a technical boxer at a similar weight would absolutely destroy him. Which is probably why they're keeping him at MW for as long as possible, through whatever means. In my eyes he's a bit of a fraud and a paper champion. As soon as he grows a pair and moves up he'll be shown for what he is I think.

Did he not move up from Welterweight already??

Don't see what that has to do with anything? He hasn't been at 147 since around 2006 when he was 19 or so. As he got older his body would have filled out etc, as with most boxers. The point is, he's too big for MW.
