The parents have a 2004 Toyota Prius. They love it to bits, but about a year ago the central console went blank. They have been all around the houses, contacted Toyota, went back to the Garage where they bought it tried ordering from abroad, drove all over the country looking for a replacement. A new one would cost thousands, they have been told, so they're looking for a reconditioned one (they've been told about €1500). Does anyone know where one could be got? As I said, they've been trying for about a year and meanwhile are driving with no heat in the car (and, how can I put this politely, they're not exactly in the first flush of youth, so to me that's a bit worrying :()

If the touch screen was working without the display, perhaps you could get the heat to work by pressing in the correct part of the screen.

If you had another Prius, you could figure out where to press.

It might be a temporary solution.

Thanks all - have been out of commission myself for a few days :(, so I didn't reply earlier.

Will try out all the various ideas and report back if any success!

Yes I tried the A/C on from the Wheel and it does indeed turn the heat on and off with no need to reference the screen, there is also the front demister button on the wheel too.
