    Hi

Looking to book a nice restaurant in Prague (in or around the old town) for the 14th of the month. Not really worried about price (within reason). At the moment I'm flying blind and can only go by some anonymous internet reviews ... Any recommendations or suggestions welcome!

    Thanks

    I've eaten here: http://www.alchymist.cz/
    here: http://www.umaliru.cz/en/
    and here: http://www.kampagroup.com/en/index.php

Wine was ferociously expensive throughout Prague - though Czech wines weren't too extortionate, and some of them are good.

Kampa Park would see itself very high up the scale - it was my least favourite. The Alchymist is a quite amazing place, and the food is pretty good. It has a real "wow" factor. U Maliru is the most "Czech" of the three.

If you're treating someone special to a Valentine's night out, I reckon she would love Alchymist. It is a couple of hundred yards over the bridge, on the Castle side.

Thanks nompere, have gone ahead and booked Alchymist. I'd come across it on my google's alright, looks really different, plus most of the reviews I've seen online are very good.

Have a great time - and come back here and tell us how you got on.

If you want a lunch recommendation, this place is halfway up the the Petrin Hill.

You can get the funicular railway if you don't fancy the walk, but the views from the dining room (you won't be eating outside in February!) are just wonderful.

I remember paying €106 for 3 people at lunchtime - and that included two bottles of wine.

Can't recommend Cicala enough. Run by Italian ex pats who had very little English, but know how to cook!

They also have walls full of famous visitors....

The Alchymist was great for food, had no complaints whatsoever. The manager was a bit of a character, good crack. Only problem was that the taxi brought us to the wrong Alchymist initially and we had to walk to the right one, it was freezing cold but luckily it wasn't too far.

Nearly froze the first night there, went for a wander down to charles bridge, the temperature hit minus 20. Next time, I think I'll wait until the springtime :)

The Alchemical Restaurant is not bad, we ate twice when we were over there last year.

We were actually staying in Residence Nosticova, and didn't realise that the restaurant was in the same building. We got a funny look when I asked in reception how the find Alchymist Restaurant.

I had forgotten that or I would have mentioned it before and saved you a walk.

I see that Residence Nosticova has changed its name to include the word "Alchymist" now.
