Missed Flight

Ok, this is a bit ahead of the game. But I’m traveling with BA next week, there is a very good chance that I may end up missing my return flight. I would normally book a later flight but this is proving ridiculously expensive. I’ve never missed a flight before. I will do everything I can to avoid this happening, but there is a very good chance its going to happen.
Can anyone tell me what will happen?

Will they just stick me on the next available flight?
Charge me the full cost of a new ticket?
Say sorry about that, make your own way home?

    Any advice would be great,
    Thanks

You're buying a new ticket for a later flight, I'm afraid. They'll only put you on the next flight if it's their fault.

You'll have to read the T&Cs of your ticket. It really depends on the category you purchased, if you're flying business they will put you on the next flight provided there is a seat, if you are flying economy you will most likely have to purchase a new ticket, or if you have some sort of flexible ticket you might just have to pay the difference between the fares.

Thanks for the advice, that clears that up.

BA will charge to upgrade to a flexible ticket to move a flight - whatever that may be!

But if you travel insurance covers you for missing your flight that could be a way to deal with the problem - you should check what they will cover you for.

Usually Travel insurance covers everything except the thing you are claiming for ...

Bit the bullet and paid the 50% of the original flight price to change flights. Thanks to everyone for the advice

You'll make the original flight now, you know that's the way it will turn out:(
