ICAI - Diploma in IFRS

    Hi,

Just wondering has anyone who did their FAEs under IFRS also done the IFRS advanced diploma or would it primarily be geared towards people who qualified under Irish GAAP?

I will probably start job hunting within the year so If it's a worthwhile addition to CV on top of my FAEs then I would consider doing it but don't want to waste money if it won't add any value.

    Thanks.

It's for people who trained under GAAP or in a non-IFRS jurisdiction. Pointless doing it.

Do you mind me asking why you think this? Have you completed the course yourself?

The girl I spoke to in the institute said it goes into a much higher level of detail than the faes and would be a valuable additional qualification to have. But obviously she's trying to sell it to me!

Compare the syllabus to the current CAP1/2/FAE, nothing new in there.

Well actually there are a couple of standards in there that aren't on the fae syllabus!

Anyway I know it's going to mostly cover standards that are also covered for the faes. But it seems to go into significantly more detail compared to the relatively high level analysis expected for the faes.

Just wanted to see if there was anyone who had actually done the diploma that can vouch for this/ might give me some idea of what the assignments are like.

    Thanks though.
