Its a reproduction of the classic Vervaine Fingerbox, probably the 1844 or 1845 model. In this particular version the parts are individualised, whereas later models were compartmentalised. The originals are very rare and it seems somebody found one.

I think it might be used for boring holes in things like fruit and veg. I saw Nigella Lawson used it at Xmas time to cut a chunk out of an apple and put a candle in it for table decoration. Then again I could be totally wrong :pac:
