    Hi all,

My E60 5 series has an auto button and a button with what looks like a snow flake.

If I turn off the snow flake one does that mean the air con unit is disabled? And therefore in just auto mode what heats/cools the air?

Yep - if the snowflake isn't lit up, then the A/C isn't on.

I've been running mine in auto without the A/C since I got it in November, as it only needs heat at the moment, and there may be a marginal advantage to fuel consumption.

Will probably (hopefully) need the A/C in the summer though.

You should really use the a/c periodically year round, even if it's only for 10 minutes or so once a week. If you don't the seals can dry up and start to leak.

Good point, and thanks - I'd forgotten about that.

Was running this morning for at least 10 minutes due to the icy conditions so should be OK for the next week or so.
