    Hi All

I'm planning my hols for september and looking at Nice or Marseille seen as flights are pretty ok price wise,

Which would be better for taking in some good climbs and nice routes?
i'm also open to other ideas ye have?

Any advice on bike freindly accommodation or bike rental would be great

    Thanks

Can't give you any advice on accommodation, bike rental and such (although bike rental is easy to find pretty much anywhere in France). All I can tell you is that Nice is nice (can't avoid the pun), and Marseille… better avoid it. The hinterland of Nice provides some fantastic scenery (and some serious climbs too), while the surroundings of Marseille are a bit depressing to say the least (a lot of endless industrial areas and urban sprawl). Public transports are also very good, with a single ticket of €1 for all public transports for any destination within the département. Not sure though how you can access them with bicycles.

I was kind of thinkning that! looks to be some nice rides towards san remo and monaco along the coast.

someplace to stay and keep the bike safe is the big one! i'm sure hotels would not fancy a bike in the room! :D

A gang of us go to race at the Roc D'Azur MTB series every year in October which is based in Frejus which is about 50 minutes from Nice on the coast. Fantastic cycling country - both road and mountain bike. I just love the place!

    We usually stay here -

They have a big garage area under the hotel with electronic access and are really easy about bikes being parked temporarily in the porch area of the hotel. Fantastic breakfast too!

    +1 on Nice also

I have no experience with Marseille, Ive cycled most of the coastline from Cannes up to Menton amost every year for the last 5 or so, its stunning and very bike friendly..

Loads of locals out on the roads, I managed to link up with a couple of clubs last year and went on a couple of early morning spins.

U can hop on the train with your bike and head up or down the coast any day.

Hoping to make it over in July with the wife, she started cycling last year so should be fun!!
