Only started shooting and can't find any rabbits out my way, don't know if im going to be a bit squeamish about gutting one if i do find one but really want to give it a go,

So with that, is there anyone around the north/west Dublin that would be willing to let me tag along and show me the ropes, long shot but worth a try,
    Thanks

Finding them be the hard part. To be honest I shot more last year with my shotgun than my friend did with his rifle that day. They are dumb enough, even if you miss with a rifle with a mod they don't move really. They are very relaxed. Gut them out when you shoot one if you want them for the table, keeps the meat good. There isn't much to it atal :)

Thing is i've never held a dead animal, i have no issues with hunting, its something i really want to get into, just don't want to shoot one if i'm not making use of the meat, whether its for the dog or the table,

no doubt i'll look back at this post in a year and laugh at myself!

Have a look at that video.

I was like that when i started going stalking with a friend, now i end up with my hands covered in blood giving him a hand gutting deer. Just get stuck in basically and ignore the taught of it and you'll have no bother.

We arent seeing many rabbits this time of year. give it a few weeks and you'll see more out for spring.

Dont worry about being squeamish. Would you be squeamish slicing up a chicken fillet? well the squeamish thing will go as soon as you start looking at rabbits as food and not little fluffy bundles of cuteness :p

On a serious note I had the same concern when I went out for my first bunny and my advice is do what I did. Take it really slowly gutting and skinning the first one. Get familiar with what the rabbit is made of. For me it was the unknown that I was apprehensive of. Study how the skin peels away and how the meat feels then there will be nothing to be squeamish about. after all its only food and before you know it itll be the norm

    Good luck and enjoy

Wouldn't mind getting in on this one myself. I've been shooting clays & game for a few years but never hunted rabbits. Just got myself a .17hmr and I'm anxious to get up an running at it though.
Rabbit Assassin... Any pointers / tag alongs welcomed!
