I may need a 10 speed cassette for a bike I'm buying. Looking for a Shimano or compatible Sram 10 speed cassette with a fairly high max sprocket, something like a 27 or 28, though if a 32 would fit with the chain/rear mech, I'd consider that (I wont know if I can get a 32 in, until I get the bike though).

I can get a 105 5700 11-28 for about €40 with CRC. Anything suitable and not too worn out there for reasonable money?

Another approach would be to change the double crank to a compact......:D

So..... if anyone has a spare/for sale 10 speed Ultegra or 105 Compact 50/34 (or SRAM equivalent, assuming that it will fit the existing Ultegra BB) in excellent 'nick, shoe-scuffs are fine, 172.5 ideally, please get in touch ?

    Thanks

12 - 28 or 30 Any use to you? I got one and can't notice any difference in changing to either ultegra or 105 cassettes. They've a sram one somewhere for a fiver more....

If you go for the cassette, get a sram one. They don't seem to wear, ever. Over 10,000km on the one I have on my commuter. Last I inspected it with a new one compared the same sprockets, the teeth were identical except for the colour on the used one. Similar case on my race bike which has over 8000km and it gets much harder usage :)
