Getting stock delivered from USA query?

I am purchasing some 6 boxes from the USA with a combined weight of approx 60KG.
Should I just assume that the supplier will organise sending them and that they will arrive at my door?

I got a smaller box of samples from them, which was sent through normal post and delivered to my door by my postman.

In the last email the supplier says he would normally use a courrier for the size of this delivery, but I am not sure how this works re:customs etc
(He sent me the dimentions and approx weights of the boxes 'If I wanted to use a local courrier' )

How does this normally work (as I have never ordered this quantity from US before).
    Thanks for any info/advice

Normally, stuff like that would be shipped by UPS, FedEx, DHL or such.

Depending on the item, you will either get a letter from customs or the delivery company will pre-pay any duty and they will then charge you at the point of delivery.

They're giving you the option of using their preferred courier, or yours. There's no harm in seeking quotes form different companies and seeing which is better. Ask the supplier how much they'd charge for delilvery

You'll have to pay Duty on whatever you import. You can see how much extra that will cost you using the calculators here
    http://www.dutycalculator.com/

The duty is charged on cost of goods, including shipping, so you'll need to know that first.

It all finally arrived today, after being held up in customs for 8 days after we paid the vat/duty etc (by what appears to be some jerk on a power trip  bloody annoying)
We organised it this end thru Fedex.
Thanks for replies and advice :D
