Considering a new laptop

I was thinking of getting myself a new laptop as the hinge on mine is cracking and looks like it'll go soon. I was aiming to limit myself to around €4-500 so I don't go overboard with money I don't really have.

I use my laptop for web browsing, programming applications (currently doing an IT degree), software development, plenty of word editing programs, watching videos and minor image editing. As you can see, nothing major really, just so long as it's able to handle them tasks with relative ease then I'll be happy.

I would like it to have a decent sized hard drive since my current one has a max of 60GB  which would be nice to bump up a bit as I like to have a bit of space. And hopefully a hdmi, 2 or 3 usb ports, a cd drive (could possibly live without) and a headphone jack. I would like a decent battery life also since my one barely lasts an hour now.

It wouldn't be used for gaming really so no need for amazing stuff, just something good for that price mentioned.

I've checked out a few so far but I'm having a hard time actually making a choice. I know it's a lot to ask but if ye have any suggestions I would be grateful!

(I am currently using an Acer Extensa 5620 so let that be the bare minimum, and I would prefer a notebook but I may be persuaded to a netbook if it's pretty good.)

EDIT: Apologies, I only realised after posting that it was in the wrong thread. Thanks Alanstrainor.
