Did you connected those case fans in to mobo directly or to psu?

In my case all fans are directed in to front panel, then front panel had a molex connection which was connected in to psu.

Chec if you have similar setup.

On those pictures blue molex are psu?

Wait, you connected molex in to mobo?

What you mean you bought extra molex m8? Don't you have enough on psu?

How many fans you got on it? Check the way all cables are going from fans and where they going.

I am a bit confused if you connected it in to molex and mobo. That is not right.

Yeah you either connect the fan to the motherboard OR the PSU, not both.

Do you need that blue adapter at all or have you not got enough molex cables.

So the fan has a small 3 pin connector which is connected to a molex adapter which connects to the PSU. One connection along each point but if there's two on an adapter, you don't need to connect it to the PSU twice.
Don't know if that's very clear but I'm pretty tired.

Alternatively, connect the 3 pin connector to the motherboard.

thanks mono i think its kinda clear :) if i connect the blue molex to the psu that will power both fans, when i connected the fan to the motherbaord ie 3 pin to motherboard then to a molex on the psu it burned out the wiering on the fan :(

So is the connector on the motherboard fried then?

Yeah, you could connect the blue one and you'd be done.

As far as I can make out from those photos, you could also leave out the blue connector and connect the molex fan cables to each other with one molex from the PSU. This should be safe enough as the power draw from fans isn't huge.

motherboard is ok still working, will just hook up the blue molex to a molex on the psu, :) so just to clear things up :) if you connect a fan useing the 3 pin to mother board you would not use the molex as well?

Yeah, you just want to give it power from one source. The motherboard gives it power and a molex cable gives it power. So you only need one.

I know this is old i apologise but i have a similar problem, i bought a new psu hooked up worked fine then later that day i bought an 80mm fan and attached to the rear grill to be an exhaust fan. Had a three pin connector with a molex adaptor, hooked it up to a free molex on the psu, it wouldnt go on easily so i pushed a little harder and one of the four pins on the adaptor got pushed back out a bit, away from the psu's female molex, i pushed it in to make sure it made contact switched it on and i got a blinking amber light on my power button (normally solid blue). Unhooked the fan stayed blinking everytime i switch it on doesnt boot or anything only the fans run and the gpu fan thats it. looked it up and it says that it means that there isnt power getting to the required areas or the motherboard is dead, i was kinda worried at that point, rehooked up my old psu without new fan and it booted so i was delighted my motherboard wasnt dead. Is it possible that the fan either damaged the psu's molex or could the loose fans molex pin have shorted the psu.

    My system is an old dell xps 420 undergoing upgrades, got it for free;

Intel core 2 quad 2.4ghz (pin mod overclocked @ 3ghz)
    4gb ddr2 ram (soon to be 8gb)
    Nvidia 8800gt (soon radeon 6870)
375w psu (new 700w corsair gaming edition)

I wanted to put in the new gpu so i got a new psu for it, wanted to make sure it didnt overheat with the new gpu and overclocking so got an exhaust fan.

Some might say id be better off building a new rig rather than upgrading an oem pc but im learning how to put together a pc off of this and itll be a decent second computer once i build a new rig over the next year
