Calculating salary for a partial month

    I'm leaving my current employment on the 17th February and am trying to calculate what my final gross salary will be for that month.

    Currently I'm paid on a monthly basis on the 25th of the month i.e. 3 weeks in arrears for that month. I don't think that the arrears payment has any effect.

    What is the calculation?

    My approach would be:
    • Annual gross salary = X
    • 365 days minus 9 bank holidays minus 104 weekend days = 252 paid working days per year (including paid holidays)
    • => Daily gross salary = X/252
    • February 1 - February 17 is 13 working days
    • => February gross salary = (X/252)*13
    Is this correct?

    Almost all employers who pay a monthly salary do it on the basis of an even split across the 12 months. I'd expect to be payed for the portion of the working days in that month I'd worked.

    Almost all employers who pay a monthly salary do it on the basis of an even split across the 12 months. I'd expect to be payed for the portion of the working days in that month I'd worked.

    On that basis then my maths would be:
    • Annual salary = X
    • Monthly salary = X/12
    • Feb 1 - Feb 17 = 13 working days.
    • Total number of working days in February 2012 = 21
    • Fraction of month worked = (13/21)
    • Final salary due = (13/21)*(X/12)
    This gives the same figure as my OP.
