Brake imbalance

My wife's Scenic failed the NCT due to a front brake imbalance, does anyone know a garage in Cork that has a rolling road to fix and test afterwards? The weird thing is, I tested the car on a straight road and anchored the brakes without it pulling left or right.

    How big is the imbalance?

I have an NCT soon, and I had my car pretested for brakes, suspension, exhaust, etc..
All fine, except from rear brakes imbalance (right was 2x stronger braking force than left). I also didn't feel it while braking, but you could feel the difference with handbrake.

I went to garage to fix it, they checked callipers and said they were fine.
Problem was that on the left side was different brake-pads than on right. Obviously previous owner changed pads only on one-side which seems to be incredible stupid for me.
Eventually I changed discs and pads, and got a car to test brake force again, and this time brake force was exactly the same on left and right.

Unfortunately I don't know any garage near Cork which would have equipment for rolling brakes...

I think it was 34% (dont have notice to hand) and from memory anything greater than 30% is a fail.

There are very few independant garages and equally few main dealers who have the NCT spec testing equipment in Dublin so I'd imagin Cork is similar.

Just found this crowd who seem to have the equipment

TBH the thing is, that almost any garage should be able to discover what's wrong with brakes and fix it.
Can't really see a need for checking on equipment before NCT, especially that's it's not much out of limits.

Very few garages have a rolling road, best chance is to locate a garage that has a nct/doe centre as well. Front brake imbalance isn't too bad to fix, chances are it a calliper pin, calliper piston or even brake pads. If it was a leak or brake hose or pipeit would have failed on that too and being written on the fail sheet.

NCT test centers are independant of any garage.
