Teddy Long announced the Elimination Chamber World title bout competitors: Daniel Bryan vs. Wade Barret vs, Big Show vs. Cody Rhodes vs. Mark Henry vs. Randy Orton.

Mark Henry showed up and complained about being in the Chamber, since he deserves a one on one match tonight. He grabbed Long who instead indefinitely suspended him. He went after Long but Sheamus made the save with the Brogue Kick. Sheamus said he hasn't decided what title is going for at Wrestlemania,

    *Sheamus pinned Cody Rhodes.

*Hunico vs. Justin Gabriel was a no contest as Rhodes, who was still at ringside, attacked Gabriel. Hunico and Camacho joined in and Great Khali hit the ring.

*There was a comedy bit where Santino Marella tried to create a team with Hacksaw Duggan. Drew McIntyre was asking for Long to not fire him.

*WWE Tag Team champs Primo and Epico defeated Santino Marella and Hacksaw Duggan.

*World champ Daniel Bryan was cutting a promo putting himself over as a role model. Big Show came out and chokeslammed him. AJ asked Show to stop.

*Brodus Clay pinned Heath Slater and then laid out Drew McIntyre who tried to attack him.

*WWE Divas champ Beth Phoenix and Natalya defeated Tamina and Aksana.

*They announced Great Khali was going to be in The Chamber.

*Randy Orton pinned Wade Barrett with the RKO.

*They filmed a segment where Daniel Bryan was told he would face Orton last week. It was a weird placement so if might be edited into Bryan's promo from earlier in the show.

FFS no Christian in the EC match

I'd imagine Khali will just be fed to Bryan or someone in the match. Neither he nor Henry were going to win it anyway, and as much as we want Christian, I'd rather they don't rush him back and reinjure him tbh.

Looking at it, Bryan looks safe till Mania then; Khali won't win. Orton and Barrett are on track to a match at Mania anyway. Show is supposidly facing Shaq. And they won't put it on Cody to go into Mania. So I'd imagine we'll be getting Bryan vs Sheamus at Mania, which is grand by me...

Christian to return as a face to fued with Cody then?

If Christian is back before it might make sense to have him vs Sheamus at EC so you never know him not being in the chamber match might not mean all that much.

    ..

Very few options apart from Khali as well thanks to the lack of depth and injuries on the roster. Teddy was the only other alternative I could think of and even he is nursing an injury anyways.

What about Drew - win the match or he MIGHT be fired....

but then again he will eventually end up as Santino's partner so they can take on Primo/Epico at the chamber PPV.

Christian to challenge Sheamus for his Mania title match at EC :p

Is Drew kinda in a feud with Brodus now?

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 18,520 Mod ✭✭✭✭DM_7

I don't know about Drew and Brodus. Its possible he is in a feud with him.

I just assumed Santino looking for a new partner each week - Drew never winning and being involved in the same back stage parts as Santino was leading to a tag team where Drew finally starts winning with Santino's help.

    Air Boom
    Epico & Primo
    Usos
    Curt Hawkins and Tyler Reks

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 42,788 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lord TSC

I wouldn't count Air Boom any more tbh; I'd be amazed if they bother to allow Bourne off superstars when he returns while Kofi is moving into the main event of the next PPV. And have the Midcard Mafia even been acknowledged or wrestled together on Raw or Smackdown in recent months?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,888 ✭✭✭Charisteas

Beth and Nattie have been the most over tag-team in the last 6 months. We had Kelly and Eve for a while. WWE aren't hot on divas wrestling or tag-teams so they kill two birds with one stone and make women tag-teams.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 42,788 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lord TSC

Actually, am I the only one who wouldn't mind seeing Beth and Nattie get the tag titles, even for a short run? I know you've got the whole problem of men vs women, but even just for a few weeks before turning Nattie and starting the feud between the two?

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 18,520 Mod ✭✭✭✭DM_7

The Brodus squash and getting attacked was reportedly cut from the Australia smackdown so probably cut altogether.

Big deal, a fart noise. Pointless storyline by WWE. Its not even funny.

Apart from that Smackdown was pretty good.

Best of all Bryan v Orton Next week! Bryan's random celebration at the end was nuts.

Barrett - Orton has been going on since Survivor Series...it's hardly going to last until WrestleMania. Besides, on Raw this week they said Orton will return to Raw full time in about a month.

Interesting, presumably Sheamus will be the big name on Smackdown then.

Bryan has been great on the mic since his heel turn, and Show has been playing his role perfectly.Hopefully AJ will turn into a full on heel in the next week or two.

AJ turning would make sense but I'm not sure she's good enough to play a heel. I was hoping they'd have Kaitlyn turn and pair her with Bryan as the backstabbing best friend.

Anyone know why Nattie has this farting storyline going? Is she in the doghouse over something? She was getting beat several weeks straight by Tamina before it.

I prefer the idea of AJ being manipulated (and used) by Bryan as opposed to her turning.

A little question for you dedicated WWE supporters, I figured it was better here than in the main Q&A thread as it relates to Smackdown. I've only recently started watching some WWE again for the first time in a good few years. Why does Smackdown seem so much less popular than Raw? I mean when I was younger Raw was always the bigger show, more dramatic and bigger stunts, but Smackdown was very popular too with important storylines?

It seems on Boards the Raw thread is very popular each week while the SD one gets far less interest. Is the fact that Raw is live a part to play also?

Would be very interested to hear from anyone on this!

Yeah, RAW being live makes a big difference.
Also RAW has Smackdown wrestlers on it too, but Smackdown only has their wrestlers on it.
And there is usually very little in the way of storyline progression on Smackdown, it's more akin to a house show.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,101 ✭✭✭NUTZZ

Also RAW has Smackdown wrestlers on it too, but Smackdown only has their wrestlers on it.

I wondered about this, they have separate rosters but I couldn't figure out why the likes of Sheamus and Randy Orton were on Raw regulalry when they are part of the SD brand.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,881 ✭✭✭Pentecost

It's apparently designed to build or maintain the profile of the top Smackdown guys but it just reinforces the idea of Raw being the show you have to watch and Smackdown being one that you might want to watch.

For me, it really is mostly down to being taped; I read the results on Wednesday morning and by Friday night, I've already moved on from what I've read. Add to that the fact WWE treats it as the B show which only leads people to think it is the B show, and the fact I'm still bitter over Christian's first title reign (:P) and Smackdown just isn't as big a deal as Raw. If you miss anything on Smackdown, you'll get the jist come Raw anyway....

Of course it will last till Mania; the fact both are in the chamber means that their singles blow off is definitely going to wait till Mania now. Most likely Orton eliminates Barrett at EC and then Wade costs Orton the chamber as well, allowing those two to build towards an epic gimmick match at Mania.

And wait, whats this about "Orton will return to Raw full time in about a month"? Surely they didn't actually say that....

As I said, I don't do much beyond read the spoilers. I'll apologise if the match was advertised or whatever as "their last match". Just, given the time left and what directions everyone seems to be moving in, I'll be amazed if Orton and Wade aren't competitors against each other at Mania...

I don't see how it would make sense for AJ to turn heel. The whole point is that the heel Bryan is treating his nice girlfriend very badly (e.g. Bryan running away instead of saving her from the Big Show). Turning her heel would remove any sympathy towards her and would give Bryan less credibility as a heel.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,116 ✭✭✭starviewadams

I'd like to see her turn into a full on slutty, mega bitch heel and reveal that her and Bryan set up the whole Show injuring her angle a few weeks ago,I reckon it would be better and get more heat for Bryan then her playing the bland, idiotic babyface girlfriend does now.Maybe that's just me though!

I could be wrong but don't blame me; blame Laurinits. I think he made a mistake. A little less than six minutes after Raw started, he said:

"Dolph Ziggler will take on a man who returns to Raw in over a month, the Viper Randy Orton"

    Perhaps he meant to say

"Dolph Ziggler will take on the man who returns to Raw for the first time in over a month, the Viper Randy Orton".

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 42,788 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lord TSC

Yeah, that's how I took Big Johnny up on the sentence. That was a flub more than an announcement of Orton's return to Raw :P

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,949 ✭✭✭A Primal Nut

Anyhow I think the Orton-Barratt match had a definite sense of finality. Orton hit the RKO, then picked Barrett up, shouted into his face and then hit another RKO onto the chair. He got his revenge for being thrown down the stairs and it was a convincing win.

That said, perhaps they have another twist in store for their rivalry especially as their doesn't seem to be a whole lot of available options for Orton leading into WrestleMania.
