The 125hp Avensis will feel (and be) a lot slower than your current car.
If going Avensis, the 6 speed 125 hp is a must, don't even consider a 116hp 5 speed.

I don't know which I'd choose, probably something not on your shortlist.

Going from an '04 to an '06 very similar basic car wouldn't appeal to me much. Any reason you're not keeping your Octavia for another few years and save yourself thousands? :)

Im trying to get up the years while i can .I think there is good value pre 08.My oct is good but the old model .I drive 800miles a week so i need a little bit more comfort .The newer oct is nice and also comfort is better.

Yea the avensis 125 sounds ok i would not chance a 140 octavia .Other than that its a 105 bhp octavia im getting older now so that might be ok .ps i come from a long line of bmw.

Is your current car definitely a 130bhp? I didn't think they put the PD130 into the Octavia to be honest. Any that I have seen have had the old non PD TDI in either 90 or 110bhp guise. What is your engine code?

Why not consider the Superb then if you drive so much and need the comfort? Or maybe some outsiders: Volvo S80, Saab 9-5? Especially the latter two would give you far superior comfort

Sounds like a nice car, I'm not sure if I would be changing to a new shape 105bhp Octavia or an Avensis if I was in your position :D

Yes Unkel the saab and volvo are sort of on the list .The car can not be over 2000cc as i detest paying road tax .I paid enough with previous cars.
