    Hey all,

The last week or so i am getting hunger pangs about 10pm and i wanted to find out is muesli good or bad?

To be honest of it was good for me id happily eat a big bowl of it but i am afraid that its very bad for me?

If anyone knows of a good one let me know cause im gonna try get some of it, but only if its good and not bad.

Its only good or bad depending on how strict you want your diet to be with wheat and carbs, as long as the portion is small it shouldn't really be doing much harm to your weight loss just don't buy muesli that has added sugar.

Eating a big bowl of it won't be healthy, stick to the recommended portion unless you burn it or need a lot of calories.
I am a grazer, I eat a small bowl and then another piece of food an hour or two later when I get hungry but you may be a 3 meal kind of person and want a bigger breakfast, add another item, protein is great.

My small bowl of muesli (no added sugar) is 160-200 cals and the milk is 50, if I had a big bowl that could be 2-3 times so even though muesli seems like a "good" food its not exempt from causing weight gain easily.

I'm a bit concerned though, 10pm? some people are really against eating after a certain hour and I'm not sure, I usually don't because I've used up my calories during the day and my body doesn't use a lot of energy sleeping so I don't want it to have all these calories to work through. Saying that if its really stopping you going to sleep I would have a caffeine free cup of tea, 50 ml of milk and something small to eat around 100 calories, could be raw carrot and microwaved quorn, 20 mins later and you're brain has realised you've eaten and you can nod off contented.

Make sure you're eating enough during the day, be careful you don't get your body into a habit to expect another meal at night, make sure you're not having your dinner too early

Is muesli good or bad? Depends what your diet is now seems to be working

I remember reading once that our bodies confuse the signals sent for thirst with thoes for hunger and maybe you are simple thirsty.

Looking at the third world and seeing people surviving on less than a bowl of rice per day and in this world we have such abundence of foods we should not be hunger so maybe the hunger pangs are sugar cravings.

Hey guys and thanks for the replys.

I think i will give the muesli a knock on the head cause i want to keep any type of fats to a minimum.

I make sure i drink plenty of water but i still get hungry and i usually dont get into bed until about 2am so probably 10pm to a lot of people is close to bed time.

If it is sugar pangs, what do you recomend to combat that?

you've lost a good bit of weight already so well done, you must be doing something right! If you are awake / active for four hours after 10pm I wouldn't worry about eating then TBH.. The only problem I have with muesli is that it is high enough in calories and isn't that filling so you need a large amount of it... what about a bowl of ready brek or porridge instead? or some cottage cheese and an apple
