Silverlight (and plug-in) question

    Hi All,

I'm having problems with some plugins - I cannot seem to get Java or Silverlight to run at all, have tried a few different browsers - mozilla, chrome, IE.

My laptop is not overly ancient, it's an Acer Aspire 5735z, running Windows Vista basic.

I've downloaded sliverlight a million times and run the .exe, but nothing changes. Any website using silverlight just keeps directing me to download Silverlight, it's as if the browsers don't recognise I already have it. Is there anything I can do to associate silverlight to any browser?

I am wondering if it's anything to do with permissions, or administrator rights, or something along those lines? I don't know a whole heap about that kind of stuff and don't want to go mucking around (and possibly wreck everything) without some idea of what I should be looking to change!

    Help, anyone please?

    thanks!

In Firefox go to Tools>Addons (if you don't see the tools menu single tap [ALT] key once) and click plugins, look for silverlight/java in there and make sure they are enabled.
In internet explorer I think its tools>Addons as well, Chrome I think there set in settings somewhere, but not sure/don't use that browser!
Another thing is never install plugins when a web browser is open, this can cause the installation to fail, so download the Silverlight/Java installers, exit your web browser and install them

Thanks very much for the help Nick, got it working in IE (can't get it working in the other two browsers yet though!).

Delighted I can view videos in one of them at least. Thanks a mil for the tips and help. Appreciate it!
