1.6 - 1.8 Engine Swap

Car is an automatic Ford Focus 1.6, 2003.

Had my engine changed (due to head gasket) a number of months ago. Have had all sorts of problems since from new computer to new battery (maybe none of these necessary). Found out today from the umpteenth mechanic that the engine the previous guys put it is actually a 1.8!! There seems to have been a dodgy job done on the crankshaft sensor with a washer (it's been replaced now as broken). Just wondering is this related to the engine size...were they trying to make the sensor fit or should this not be an issue??

Obviously need a larger battery now as well and this may have caused a lot of the electrical problems I've been having. I'm so . Thanks for any advice :D

Well for starters your insurance and road tax needs to adjusted (ownership form updated to state new engine size). Other than that I'd go back to the mechanic and demand a proper fitted 1.6 with all damaged parts replaced or bring them to court.

Why would you have needed a new engine in the first place if it just suffered a head gasket failure?

The battery won't be causing the electrical issues you're having, more likely having sensors/control units from the 1.6 with the now 1.8 block is causing confusion for the car.
