Plumbing installed incorrectly - who should pay?

    Hello

I hope I am posting in the right forum.

My sister bought a newly built house six years ago from a developer. She has two bathrooms with both toilets blocking regularly since the time of purchase. Nothing disasterous, but in the last year it became a very regular problem. It reached a point where she could not use the toilets for anything that was not liquid if you get my meaning. She has to regularly get a drains person in to clear out the pipes. Currently the toilets will withstand light use, and guests have to be warned not to use a lot of toilet paper. It would be funny if it wasn't true.

She got an expert in who ran a line and camera through the pipes. It turns out the pipes are, and I am using laymans terms here, installed upside down. She has contacted the builder many times on the issue and he says that it is not his responsibility to fix the problem. I would disagree. She bought the house from him in good faith, and plumbing which is inside walls is not something that shows up on a snag list.

What would you recommend as a course of action. She has been told she may have to pay the cost herself which I am told will be about 2k. I suspect more.

If I were her I think I would go to a solicitor and sue for goods sold not fit for purpose or as agreed by contract.

    Thanks for any advice.
