The whole thing is a complete farce now, they will all be tech.Universitys. Waterford's long campaign and work should now be set on a full university like it always was.

Not a blow at all. Was always going to happen once WIT aligned with Carlow to look into a University of the SE. It will all come down to meeting the criteria for university designation which will be announced in Feb.

Can we be certain that the criteria will exclude these other opportunistic applicants? The other IT's have long been hanging onto the coat tails of WIT's lobbying and campaigns. It's almost sickening at this stage!

Exactly Adam. If the criteria coem out in such a way that it's accessible to a load of other institutions, WIT need to pull out of it altogether and get back to focusing on full University status. This has been the fear since the current government announced this idea and I personally don't trust them to avoid this scenario.

WIT doesn't have a hope of full uni status. Have you looked into the degrees on offer in WIT compared to those offered in a uni? It's the difference between primary and secondary school.

    Best of luck to them.

Let all the sh!tty ITs become Tech universities, then the only ITs left will be WIT and DIT.

We'll finally be differentiated from the rest of them :D
