Ever have this happen to you where you're just out and about in public, perhaps walking down a busy street and all of a sudden you start smiling to yourself. You're on your own and people are looking at you like you're some nutter. People going past in cars are noticing too now and you then start smiling even more and more but desperately want to stop. No matter what you do your cheeks just wont stop, even though you're trying to think of sad things to control yourself.
It happens to me quite a bit. I just hope I'm not on my own here. :o:)

We'll need to control it and cut it out before we are OAPs or we'll look llike peados!
I'm sure I'll have nothing left to smile about soon enough anyway.

I do this all the time. A friend told me he saw me walking down the street smiling to myslef and thought it was weird. But he's a grumpy fecker.

Keep it up I say. A genuine smile is a rare thing to see these days

    :D

Basically it means, ironically, the ability to express more than one interpretation.

It's a subconscious reaction to all the CCTV cameras.
Very soon everyone will be at it. . .

sorry but there has to be a reason you are proper wantng to smile aside from just being paro and putting on a brave face. It's a real sign of madness IMO; just ambling around smiling. I know miss kiely up the road does it; head held high like over proud, smiling. Paranoid about people on the street might be watching her from their windows?!! I saw her do it again out the window today

Thinking/seeing something funny/happy/heartwarming. For me it's a sign of being content, not insanity.

Apart from the people boarding the bus, who'll hurry on past to sit elsewhere.*

*Works especially well if you nod at them enthusiastically too.

I'm more of a laughing type of guy myself. Sometimes I think of funny things and start laughing. I'd imagine the people watching me would think I'm some nutter. Which is worse to people, smiling for no reason or laughing to yourself?

I've taken to going for walks up the mountains recently, i find myself smilling/nodding/saying hi to everybody i pass - i'm not quite sure why, i just do it automatically (perhaps it's the altitutde:D).
I think this is probably how dogging started!

I nearly ended up in a fight for this. Walking down a car-busy but pedestrian-quiet road, nice bright sunny day probably around 12 in the afternoon. I think I was thinking of a youtube vid and must have been smiling away, a dodgy looking fella I'm passing goes "What are you laughing at ye dope? You laughing at me?" I just say "nope" and carry on as he shouts some inaudibles at me. Didn't think it was worth standing around and explaining the cat video or whatever I was thinking of :D

Yeah when I remember something hilariously funny or like today when I saw myself in the mirror at work and realised I was looking good.

Whoever saw me walking around town on Friday afternoon/evening sure thought I was a nutter, or on drugs or something. Big stupid grin on my face thinking of the weekend ahead

It's a nice notion, but realistically they'll all just think you're nuts :pac:

Don't think I have in public, but certainly at home if I think of something makes me happy I've caught myself smiling.

I am prone to a fit of giggles every now and again especially in work, happened last week when a friend sent me an email and I had to stifle my laughing cos I was in work. But even thinking back to it over the weekend had me smiling to myself. :D
