Basic slag

Local merchant has 15 50kg bags of basic slag left, been thinking of putting some out. Got a fair bit of moss, thinking it might help with that, also draining (developed into a hobby at this stage :D), and sweeten up the grass a bit.

I've had a Google but can't find out info on application rate? It'll be hand spread from a bucket, but how much per acre?

Also, is there any negative effects spreading basic soon, then spreading a mix of 0-7-30 and 18-6-12 say early March?

    Thanks,

    John.

(My preference would be get a truck load of ground lime but I have no easy way of moving and spreading it - land isn't trafficable without leaving huge damage).

By the by, he's quoting €21 a bag, how does that compare to elsewhere, 50kg bags.

What about the gran lime John, we find it great and it might be handier if you have to spread it by hand.

Hi John whats the analysis of the slag?

You are talking about using 0-7-30 later on, if you put out slag now which is supposed to be high in P you might be better off using 50% muriate of potash instead of 0-7-30.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.
