I'm lost when ever it comes to the wiring of a car so hoping someone here could help.

I have a 00 caddy and got spots for a 10er the other day there 55w. Now how do I wire them? I was told two ways, I could wire them to the head lights doesn't seem right to me but would it work? without melting wires? or wire them using a relay switch and all that jazz?

    Can anyone help?

YOu could wire them up to the main beam via a relay.

run a feed from the battery (fused) with the other end going to the lights, use the full beam wire to trigger the relay.

No burnt out wires to worry about.

Safest way is to use a relay.
Take a wire from the battery with an in-line fuse.
Take a feed off the main beam wire.
One wire to the spots, comes off the opposite terminal from the battery feed on the relay.
    And an earth.
There is a diagram on the relay to guide you.
    Best of luck!!

worth noting that you can get premade kits with all the crimping, sheathing, etc already done.

Note, If you overload your headlight circuit the fuse will go before the wires burn, that's why it's there. But good practice says you shoud use a relay and don't forget to fuse the main supply to your spot.
