Fiat Servicing to Maintain Warranty...

Quick question - or confirmation - on behalf of a friend.

Her first service for her Fiat 500 is coming up. Being in Galway she doesn't have a local Fiat dealer to carry out the service so she's wondering what her options are. She wants to ensure her warranty isn't affected...doing a search on the boards here there seems to be a general opinion that any (main?) dealer can service the car and not affect the warranty? Is this correct? I'm reading that oem parts should be used - this correct too?

Furthermore, any opinions out there wrt Fiat warranties in general? Do they honour them pretty readily or do they hunt for loopholes?

    Any views/insight welcome...

My understanding is the warranty would not be affected as long as OEM parts are used. Just use a reliable garage, don't go for the cheapest. Mind you, on a first service there will be few parts needed just oil change and filters.

However, If something else went wrong with the car outside warranty covered parts then pleading for a goodwill contribution is always easier if the car has been maintained within the Fiat network. To find a Fiat Dealer this will require a trek to up to Claremorris or over to Thurles!.. Maybe ring them and see if they will contribute to the petrol bill to get from Galway.

Once the car is serviced as per the Fiat service schedule, using OEM quality parts and in a registered service center then the manufacturer can't be effected.

Thanks V Eight, the offsetting some of the petrol cost from the service bill is an interesting proposal.

Nissan doctor, when you say the manufacturer can't be affected you mean the warranty remains valid? Just checking and thanks also.

The purpose of that website is to lobby on behalf of independent service agents and parts manufacturers, I don't see any consumer rights outlined on it.

The manufacturers still hold all the cards in that you are pretty much kissing goodbye to any goodwill outside of warranty if you service outside of fiat dealers and as is usually the way with these things, a big issue will likely arise a week after warranty expires.
Id stick with fiat. I cant believe they dont have a fiat dealer in galway. Are you sure that there isnt an authorised fiat service centre in galway? Anyway, claremorris is not a million miles away

This website is currently under renovation, we hope to see you soon on our updated website. For more information on the Right to Repair Campaign, please read our presentation leaflet and Questions & Answers or contact the R2RC secretariat

This is running along the top of the page, sorry I didn't realise it was being updated. But this is the EU block exemption enforcement website (usually)

I don't know what you mean by 'EU block exemption enforcement'. The website (whether it's under maintenance or not) is clearly a lobbying exercise on behalf of independent service companies.

It does not seek to set out consumer rights as suggested by your orignal reference to it...
