    Hi guys,

Anyone have any ideas / advice on hiring a car without a credit card ? I am looking to hire a car in beauvais airport for a few days in Feb.

I only have a laser card myself and it seems that car rental companies are insisting on a credit card being used (and the driver owning the card too so we can't use for example my parents card) I thought that if booked through an Irish agent / based company that a laser card would have been ok but it appears not. :(

Thanks in advance for any help.

you may get away with a visa debit, maybe you could try a mastercard prepay - £5 off Kalixa and get you cheaper ryanair flights too.

I've heard it is possible, you need to check with the individual company on what their policy is.

It's possible you'll either have to leave a large deposit or pay for the extra zero excess insurance.

I used indigo car hire in august to hire a car in france. They are a broker. We hired car from avis. Price was slightly more expensive when using debit card. Avis took 400 deposit until car returned. No problems getting money back.

Hi Just to follow up . I booked with Avis a 7 seater 437 euro for 4 days. Had 4 car seats 60 euro and I took out super excess insurance. He took 100 deposit for the fuel and the price for the car. No problems using my Visa debit card at all. It actually says it in their terms and conditions. No problems at all. The guy was very nice.
