    Hi Folks,

I'm looking to buy a house in the next year. Would people recommend going with a financial advisor for the process or doing the leg work myself.

I've tried to search the forum for info on financial advisors pro/con, but seems to be scarce with replies...for example.

I'm not looking for the names of financial advisors, just personal experience maybe inside info etc....

    Thanks,
    Gorgo

Seeing as you have had no replies I feel I should comment. I am mortgage broker and would be happy to assist you in any way I can. Feel free to check any of my previous posts in relation to mortgage finance.

The main reason I would recommend using a broker is that you don't have to do the leg work of applying to all banks including the banks you have no existing relationship with. A good broker will be able to assess your application based on the info you provide and be able to tell you which banks criteria it fits into. It's then a case of progressing with the bank that offers the cheapest rates. A good broker will also take you through the whole process to getting your keys and beyond and will ensure that all non-legal conditions are complied with. A good broker doesn't charge fees as they have an established satisfied client base continuously referring clients. A good broker will also have access to the cheapest insurance providers on the market, access to a reliable, competitively priced solicitor, surveyor etc.. If I can be of any assistance let me know.
