Global compatability of 3DS Games

    Folks, I bought a MarioKart 7 game for Nintendo 3DS in the US as a present for a kid in Ireland. Will it work in her device that was bought in Ireland, or are there regional restrictions on DVD that will prevent that?

    A US bought game will not work on a Euro bought 3ds. sorry.

    To echo the above, it won't work due to Nintendo's decision to implement regional lockout protection.

    The DS allowed games from different regions to be played but they've implemented region block on the 3DS.

    If I were you I'd put it on eBay to try and recoup as much money from it as you can, then buy the game here.

    Thanks everyone. No worries, back and forwards to the US, so I am sure I can find a kid to take it off my hands...:)

    Worth noting, DSi enhanced DS games are also region locked, so they'd play on a ds or ds lite but not on a 3ds or DSi
