Clutch slipping? Gears not taking...

Hi folks, I'm hoping you can help with a quick query.
My wife loaned her car to her brother so his other-half could use it to learn to drive. I don't know what they did to it, but I'm worried it's not good!

It's a 1.4l petrol 05 Fiesta with 60K on the clock. This didn't happen before...

There is no acceleration any more. Before when you put the foot down, it would respond, now, in first you put the foot down, and you get maybe 2 seconds of power before you need to change to second.
In second & third, when you put the foot down, the revs climb with no apparent power, then when the revs get to 5K, you feel the power coming, and the revs drop back to about 3.5K, where it then appears to accelerate normally back to about 5/6K, then it rev's out & you need to change gear. Same for fourth. Fifth gear appears fine, but you are in it far before you were before.

    It's like it's a 1l engine.

Any ideas? Is it the clutch slipping? If I thought it could make sense, I'd say that it feeling like the gear cogs are worn down, and not gripping.

Any help/advice appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you need a new clutch.

Same here, sounds like a burned out clutch.

Change this also when getting it done :)
